As the weekend approaches and brides everywhere are heading out to find their perfect gown, we thought we'd share some of our top shopping tips to help make your experience fun and as stress-free as possible.
Know what looks good on you
Before you head out to buy your wedding gown, take a look in your closet. What is it filled with? Are all your shirts short sleeved versus long? Do you prefer pieces with lots of embellishment? Is the overall look of your closet vintage, or perhaps it's new and modern? Your everyday style is a great indicator of what looks good on you. Keep these style choices in mind when searching for your gown.
Bring undergarments and shoes
By bringing the undergarments and shoes that are the same height as the ones you'll be wearing on your wedding day, your seamstress will be able to alter the size and height of your gown more accurately, ensuring that you leave with a better fit.
Many manufacturers require 4+ months to complete your dress, and this doesn't include the alteration appointments you will need once your gown has arrived to your authorized retailer. By giving yourself plenty of time to find your dream gown, you'll avoid the stress and worry that your dress won't be ready on time for the big day.
Buy what fits your body shape
Whether you want to tone-up, or have other pre-wedding fitness goals in mind, choosing a gown that fits your current body shape will ensure that it looks fabulous on you no matter what.
Trust your instincts
Not every bride has a tear-filled moment when she tries on her perfect dress. Some brides just know that their gown is "the one". Does your gown make you feel beautiful, special, and excited for your big day? Then we say trust your instincts and go for it!
