Last night we tuned into the 57th Grammy Awards and chose our top beauty and fashion looks fit for a Paloma Blanca wedding. Here are some of our favourite red carpet looks:

Makeup Minimalist
This look has been worn heavily on the red carpet this passed year. Enhancing your skin's natural glow with some bronzer, and applying nude lipsticks are a sure way to highlight your beauty on your special day. Don’t be afraid to add in some shimmering eye shadow to really wake up those eyes. Here's how you can achieve this look:

1. Choose a powder bronzer that has buildable coverage which will allow you to start off with less and add more if needed.

2. If you find that matte nude lipsticks are not flattering on their own, use a high shine lip gloss on top to really make those lips pop.

3. Grooming your eyebrows for this look is highly recommended. If you want a fuller eyebrow, try going with a natural fill with a nice blend.

Something Blue
The Grammys are notorious for tradition-breaking fashion, and this year was no exception. “Black tie attire” was worn with a twist as we saw a handful of gentlemen looking dapper in Navy. We love this idea for a groom looking to also make a statement on his wedding day.

Last week we talked about Apple brides; broader shoulders, fuller bust, more slender thighs and bottom, and a lesser defined waist.

Let’s add another fruit to our mix: the Banana, aka the rectangle or column. This shape can be defined as long and slender “boyish” figure or athletic build.

While proportionally the Banana has a balanced upper and lower body and quite a slender frame, at times may have a less defined waist. The goal for this shape is to create curves. To do this, you will want to split up the body to draw the eye upwards and downwards.

When you're gown shopping, there are a few things that a Banana shaped bride might want to keep in mind:

A gown that nips you in at the waistline will do the trick of splitting up your body by adding volume to your bust and your hips. Fit and Flare styles, with a flare out from the knee will also assist in doing this.

Scoop necks and sweetheart necklines are great options for a smaller bust. Cowls and beading will add detail to a bustline that may need a little attention

While many shapes may steer clear of the cling of a bias cut gown, the slender frame of Banana shape can embrace it.

Banana shape can also look fantastic in a full skirt gown like a Ballgown, A-line skirt or empire cut.

Which tips have you found to be the most helpful?

Stay tuned next week when we'll be sharing another body shape and how to shop for your perfect wedding gown!

The natural beauty of Bowling Green Country Club Of Detroit, situated on beautiful Lake St. Clair, was the setting for Erika and Bradley's rustic wedding. Wearing Paloma Blanca Style 4358 that she found at Elizabeth's Bridal Manor, the bride celebrated her special day with her University sweetheart.

We asked Erika to share more of her romantic day with us:

How did you know your dress was “the one”?
My dress was the second dress I had ever tried on. It was actually a dress my mom had picked out and something I really didn't envision myself wearing for my wedding day. I went into my appointment wanting something less bridal and more of a flowy and bohemian style. I tried on the dress to show my mom and I was amazed. The combination of the lace bodice and the silk organza skirt with the lace trim was just beautiful to me, classic and whimsy. I loved the uniqueness of the lace on the bodice and the little lace details at the edge of the skirt. I felt like a bride in this dress and I knew Brad would just love it. I knew it was "the dress" when I started to cry as I envisioned Brad seeing me for the first time as his bride. I have never felt so beautiful!

How did Bradley propose?
This still is my favorite story to tell! Brad had planned a mini getaway to our favorite place, Northern Michigan, for a long weekend to celebrate his 29th birthday and our three year anniversary together. Brad proposed on his birthday night and caught me completely off guard. A wedding proposal was that last thing on my mind, I had planned the whole day to revolve around Brad because it was his birthday! It was truly one of the happiest days of my life. I will never forget it!

What inspired your wedding day theme?
Brad and I wanted our wedding to be relaxed and casual with a touch of elegance and sophistication. Throughout the whole wedding planning process, Brad and I stayed very true to ourselves. Our wedding was going to be what we wanted, not what was expected. We wanted to have a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by an outdoor reception. Our ceremony was held at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church. St. Paul on the Lake, built in 1834, is statuesque and breathtakingly gorgeous. The front doors open up to a beautiful backdrop of Lake St. Clair. Our reception was held outside on the Bowling Green at the Country Club of Detroit. We really relied on the natural beauty of our venue and flowers for the decor/theme of our wedding. I wanted bright pops of color and lots of greens to incorporate the outdoor setting of our reception space. The outdoor open concept with the sparkling bistro lights, the beautifully crafted Italian menu with modern and rustic twists, and the Motown/Soul music set the exact vibe we were going for. Our wedding day was lovely and romantic, casual and elegant, held in an outdoor setting full of lush florals and greenery. My dress was a perfect complement to our wedding day atmosphere
