Last week we talked about Apple brides; broader shoulders, fuller bust, more slender thighs and bottom, and a lesser defined waist.

Let’s add another fruit to our mix: the Banana, aka the rectangle or column. This shape can be defined as long and slender “boyish” figure or athletic build.

While proportionally the Banana has a balanced upper and lower body and quite a slender frame, at times may have a less defined waist. The goal for this shape is to create curves. To do this, you will want to split up the body to draw the eye upwards and downwards.

When you’re gown shopping, there are a few things that a Banana shaped bride might want to keep in mind:

A gown that nips you in at the waistline will do the trick of splitting up your body by adding volume to your bust and your hips. Fit and Flare styles, with a flare out from the knee will also assist in doing this.

Scoop necks and sweetheart necklines are great options for a smaller bust. Cowls and beading will add detail to a bustline that may need a little attention.

While many shapes may steer clear of the cling of a bias cut gown, the slender frame of Banana shape can embrace it.

Banana shape can also look fantastic in a full skirt gown like a Ballgown, A-line skirt or empire cut.
