COUPLE’S WEDDING STORY:
When I thought about my wedding dress, I had always envisioned something with a v-neck, low back, emphasized waist-line, lots of skirt, and sleeves… I’d created this dress in my head and fallen in love with it in my heart and was so fearful that it wouldn’t actually exist! My mother lives overseas in England (I’m in the U.S.) so we did our mother/daughter bridal shopping entirely online. I was browsing one of many websites and sent her a link to a dress that directed her to the Paloma Blanca website. My mother sent back a link to a different dress, the 4798, and I fell in love instantly. It didn’t have sleeves, but I knew it had the potential for sleeves so I used some software at work to copy lace from the bodice. And oh my god, when I’d finished my toes were tingling and I was grinning like a fool! I knew in that moment I’d found my dress.
Next challenge was to actually find the dress to try on! Luckily a store in New Orleans (a 3hr drive, so somewhat nearby) carried Paloma Blanca, confirmed they had a 4798 sample, and I booked myself an appointment for a few weeks later! Trying on the dress, I fell in love even more… It was just so beautiful!! I tried on some others (because FUN!) but there was never any other dress I actually considered. I knew this was the one.
I’ve honestly lost count of the number of people who have remarked “Wow, THAT DRESS!”. I knew it was gorgeous, I felt absolutely gorgeous in it, but it still feels amazing to know that everyone else thought it was gorgeous as well. In addition to being beautiful, it was so comfortable and easy to sit and dance in. I twirled and boogied to my heart’s content! It was so comfortable that I even wore it out to the after-party at a club, where we danced until 2am! I spent over 10 hours in the dress and by the end of the night I still didn’t want to take it off!
Customizations: Ordered with lace sleeves from the designer so that the lace and beading matched the bodice; Added a few “false buttons” on the back to cover the exposed zipper.
Veil by Alisha at One Blushing Bride (Etsy): Cathedral length with tapered Alençon Lace to match the bodice and sleeves.
