We met at a surprise birthday party for a mutual friend, who is now a groomsman in our wedding. We briefly flirted, but it took Cody a whole week to ask me out! On our first date we went for drinks and a movie. It was a great date, but it wasn’t until the second date where Cody swears “he knew he was going to marry me”. We went to Carmine’s Pie House, where we ordered pizza and lobster mac’n cheese. There was no talk of a salad, hence, Cody knew I was “the one”. We quickly learned that we wanted to spend as much time as possible together. It wasn’t long before we fell in love and the rest, as they say, is history.
Cody proposed the night before Thanksgiving in front of our families at One Ocean resort. It was my first time hosting Thanksgiving so I was too distracted to notice that he was nervous. In my usual fashion, I was running late and Cody was rushing me to get to our destination. I had no idea that his parents had been waiting there to reserve a beautiful spot for the proposal. After we finally arrived we were having a great time visiting with our families. Cody asked me to go inside with him, but when I stood up he told me that he had to ask me a question first. It was at that time that he pulled a box out of his pocket and got down on one knee. I was so excited that I don’t even know if I processed the whole speech, but the part I will never forget was this: “I love calling you my girlfriend, but I think I have a better title for you”. I was so surprised (and so was my mom!). It was the perfect intimate proposal shared with our family. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!
