Blake and I first met when we were working part time at a local sporting goods store, I was still in college and he was substitute teaching at the time. I always had the biggest crush on him, but knew timing just wasn’t quite right. We both got full time jobs, and lost touch, however we found each other on a dating app, began talking instantly and went out on our first date the night after. After our first date, we built our friendship and didn’t officially start dating until 6 months after. Our love grew as we learned more about each other, and challenged each other to try new things.
On July 11th 2015, Blake planned a surprise tailgate at the Kenny Chesney concert in Philadelphia with 50 of our closest friends and family. We went to many concerts, as he knew it was one of my favorite things to do, and he knew that the Kenny Chesney concert was my favorite day of the year.
That afternoon, not only in front of all our closest friends and family, but in front of hundreds of other tailgaters, Blake got down on one knee and proposed.
We began planning our wedding soon after, and decided we wanted a classic, timeless wedding. Something we could look back at when were old and say if we were to go back in time we would do it all the same.
On Saturday September 3rd Blake and I got married at the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge PA, built in 1917. The cathedral ceilings, stained glass windows, and intricate detail found across the chapel made for an idealistic ceremony.
The first time I saw Blake cry was when my father walked me down the aisle in my dream wedding gown. In that moment, I didn’t notice anyone else in the room but him, and couldn’t wait to marry him.
It was as they say, “the best day ever”, but what made it so special to me besides all the love was my dress. The 2016 was the first dress I saw when I walked into the bridal showroom and it was love at first sight. It was unique, elegant, and flattering and I knew right away this was the dress I was going to get married in.
My husband is my best friend, and the best day of my life was when I got to marry him, in my dream wedding.
