Austin and Tony

Couple’s Wedding Story:

Tony and I have a super unique love story. I originally heard about Tony from my sister, who was hanging out with him and a few of his friends. She thought he and I would be a great match so she told him about me and showed him my pictures online. He decided to add me on Facebook and we chatted a bit but never went out on a date because I was focused on finishing grad school and my first year of teaching (8th graders)!

A couple years went by and since Tony is a United States marine – he ended up getting stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He and I kept in touch online but had still never met in person… but our conversations became more frequent and we realized that we just “clicked!” That’s when I decided that I wanted to take the leap and meet him, so I planned a trip to Okinawa over Spring break.

The first time I ever met Tony (in person) was when I got off the plane at the airport in Okinawa, Japan! From the moment I came down the escalator and saw him through the glass, waiting for me, I knew my life was about to change!

We spent a week together, exploring the island and getting to know each other better! By the time I left, I knew he was the person I wanted to be with.

He ended up getting military orders to North Carolina so I decided to sell my house in Virginia, get a teaching job in North Carolina, and move in with him when he got back to the United States! It was crazy because we had only spent one week together in person prior to moving in!

Fast forward to New Years 2020 – we got engaged and on July 17, 2021 – we got married and I wore the MOST perfect Mikaella gown! It literally brought tears to my eyes when I tried it on for the first time at Thornbury Brides… in that moment, I knew, without any doubt, that I was wearing MY wedding dress. I added a belt with pearl details to match my grandmother’s pearl necklace and a long cathedral length veil. Once I got the dress in, and put it on a second time – after the belt was officially added – it was even more stunning than I remembered.

All in all – our wedding was an absolute dream come true… from the chapel, to the horse and carriage, to the fireworks at the end… and leaving with my amazing man, as my husband.

Thank you so much, for creating my dream dress and making me feel like a true bride on my big day.
