Travel has always been a big part of our lives and our relationship. We had a long distance relationship for years, often meeting up in new cities and exploring new places together. One of the biggest surprises of my life was when Rich told me to pack my bags, we were leaving for Paris in the morning. I was so stunned, so excited, and I had so many questions. I lived in Paris and it is my favorite city in the world. Rich had arranged time off with my job and he had booked our stay in the same neighborhood I use to live in. Upon arrival, the first thing I had to do was go to my favorite boulangerie to get a baguette. As I’m chomping down on delicious french bread, Rich asks a couple on the street if they’ll take a picture of us. As he hands them the phone and turns back to me, he gets down on one knee and proposed to me right there in the streets of Paris! I was trying to finish my bite of baguette so that I could say YES!! It was the most Parisian and romantic proposal I could of dreamed of!
One of the highlights of wedding planning for me was definitely the experience of wedding dress shopping. I went dress shopping with my mom and my maid of honor. We went to Kleinfeld’s and the last dress I tried on was this Mikaella gown. I definitely had a moment when I came out of the dressing room. This dress was so different from the other dresses I had tried on. It was so classy yet it had the beach vibe I was going for. It was both chic and laid back, and I knew it was the one for me. As soon as they paired the dress with the Mikaella veil and the headpiece, it was game-over. Tears everywhere, and yes.. of course “I Said Yes to the Dress!” in true Kleinfeld’s fashion.
Rich and I both agreed that a destination wedding was perfect for us. We decided on Rincon, Puerto Rico, because of its natural beauty, laid back vibes, and our love for the beach. We rented a gorgeous oceanfront villa where our entire bridal party stayed. We were so incredibly lucky to have over 100 family and friends come to Puerto Rico to celebrate with us! The ceremony was on the beach at sunset, the cocktail hour took place around the pool area, and the reception was held under a beautiful clear tent on the grounds of the villa. The wedding was truly a reflection our love and commitment to each other and our love of travel. It was without a doubt the best trip of our lives.
