Matt and I met through Bumble in 2016. We had our first date in October, and we moved in together by February – when you know, you know!
We became engaged in the Fall of 2018 and started planning our dream wedding and honeymoon for Spring 2020.
Our wedding was fairly easy to plan at first. I have been a bridesmaid 8 times and I also worked as a bridal consultant during university at It’s Your Day Bridal in LaSalle, Ontario. When I was a consultant my favourite designers were always Mikaella and Paloma Blanca and I was so excited when one of my brides chose a dress form their collections. When it came time to find my dress the only place I wanted to shop was my former store with the help of the owner (and my former boss!) Sarah. The morning I came into the store Sarah had pulled about 10 different dresses for me to try on as she already knows my style so well. Sarah asked me which gown I wanted to try on first and I point to a dress (the one I ended up choosing) and I said “we can start with any of them but I already know that is going to be my wedding dress”. And it was the one!
Ultimately like most couples this past year our plans changed and changed again. We were finally able to pull off a “micro” version of our original wedding in October 2020 with 50 of our closest family and friends as well as 100+ more watching via Zoom. It was absolutely the perfect day.
We opted to not have a first look and I will never forget the reaction on my fiancé’s face when he saw me walking down the aisle. For a year I kept hinting that my dress was a puffy ballgown, so he was pleasantly surprised when he saw me in a much more form fitting gown.
