Pre-covid, I was flying to Ottawa for work where I was leafing through the airlines magazine and there it was— my perfect wedding dress! I knew I wanted a classic looking gown and I fell in love with the lace details on the sleeves and the deep V with the lace details on the back . A combination of elegance and modernity. I was also thrilled to learn that Mikaela is Toronto based designer so I was happy to support a local business.
My fiancé Zack and I planned to have a large wedding in our local synagogue where Zack’s parents were married. When the Covid pandemic hit in mid-march, we were determined to keep our original date and so we did! The unknown was not so scary, with my soul mate by my side. We knew that we may only have five people (including us!) attend our wedding so we prepared for a zoom wedding.
The day before our wedding the province announced that up to 50 people were allowed to participate in outdoor ceremonies while keeping social distance. We were lucky to have some family and bridal party join us on our special day. Even though it wasn’t exactly the wedding day we imagined, I married my best friend and the day was perfect to us. While we were unable to participate in a traditional hora, we were able to make a splash on a giant rubber ducky!
