I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I found my dress. Being one of the most indecisive people…maybe ever…and not being set on a specific dress style really indicated that the process would be long and hard. Living in New York City, I had plenty of wedding dress retailer options to explore. With my mom, future mother in law and matron of honor, I first went to a smaller resale shop as I am no stranger to shopping consignment. After trying on 5 or 6 dresses and liking most but not all of the dress, I felt a little discouraged for where to go from there. Luckily I had a night to sleep on it before starting bright and early at Kleinfeld Bridal, their first appointment of the day.
Obviously a fan of the show “Say Yes to the Dress” I was excited to shop there, even if it was just for the experience. Paired with Debbie (a SYTTD veteran stylist) at check-in, I quickly knew I was in great hands. Debbie asked me just a few questions, one being to describe the venue and another being the feel, mood and style I was going for. After sharing that my natural and organic, romantic wedding could include any style dress, and that the ceremony location included a willow tree draping over a lake, she said “I have the perfect dress!” She left the room for only a couple minutes, but it seemed like ages with my anticipation for this perfect dress. Being the great stylist that she is, she came back with three dresses “just in case” I didn’t like the first. Holding up the Mikaella dress first, I immediately loved the lace detail and neckline. After trying it on…WOW! I loved it even more on and just knew it was the dress. It. Was. Perfect. The way it fit my body (with the clips), how light and comfortable it was, and the way it made me feel was just what I was hoping for.
Wearing this dress on my wedding day gave me all the feels, and confirmed it wasn’t just me that loved the dress; so many of my family and friends kept complimenting the dress and asking who the designer is, in addition to my groom saying just how stunning of a dress I chose. After receiving my wedding photos back from my photographer, I was reminded yet again of just how special the dress was for my wedding day – with the detachable overskirt, I was able to customize it a few different ways throughout the day – just what an indecisive bride needs! And each way I wore the dress, it turned out just beautifully captured and I can’t wait to get pictures up in our new home!
