My husband Cole and I met in college at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. We became very close friends in our college ministry and began dating about a year later. Over the next 2 years, one of our favorite places to spend time together was Lake Martin, about 30 minutes outside Auburn. Cole proposed to me on top of Chimney Rock on Lake Martin – it was a breathtaking view and so, so special.
I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Covenant Presbyterian Church until I graduated high school and moved to Auburn. The church helped raise me and mold me into the person I am today – so to be married there was a dream come true. One of the most special parts of our big day was that my brother Neal Sims – a chef in New York City at Momofuku Nishi – was able to cater our wedding. The food was incredible and certainly one of the biggest highlights of the day. It was amazing to have our families all together in one place during such a special time of year.
My Mikaella dress was also another highlight of the wedding day. The dress was my dream dress and set the theme for our wedding – classic, timeless, elegant, and formally romantic. When I tried it on, I knew right away that it was the one!
