Jack and I dated for eight years, after meeting in college at the University of Georgia. We both pursued graduate careers (I am a Speech Therapist and he is a Doctor), and we managed to date long distance throughout that time!
After matching for emergency medicine residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Jack finally popped the question in April 2019! We were at the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, and both of our families were there to celebrate! It was absolutely perfect!
We both moved to Lexington Kentucky, started new jobs, and learned to do life together as an engaged couple! It was an exciting and challenging year, as we juggled Jack’s residency, a new city, and living together for the first time. If being an emergency medicine intern isn’t enough, throw in a global pandemic, as well as planning/postponing our wedding… We truly feel like we can get through anything together!
Jack and I made the decision to postpone our wedding that was originally scheduled for April 25 to September 12. Of course, this brought several changes to our wedding day, such as choosing a new venue and decreasing our numbers, just to name a few. With Jack’s career and the state of our country in April, we felt like this was the best and safest decision!
We ended up getting married in Jack’s hometown (at the chapel on his high school campus), and it was absolutely perfect! It was not the day we had originally planned, and several people were missing, BUT September 12 will forever be our favorite! We have loved every second of starting our life together, and we are so incredibly thankful for all of those who helped us make our wedding day happen!
