Sha’Quayla and Wesley

Couple’s Wedding Story:

Our engagement took place on the golden coast of Burgundy, France. We hiked through a hillside forest to come out upon the the grand cru vines. After a small picnic and libations, I agreed to marry Wes. He was so glad that I said ‘yes’ because he planned a private wine tasting for us to pick out the wines that we and our guests would enjoy on our wedding day.

3 years prior, we met and fell in love in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our relationship immediately grew into a friendship that is inseparable. We enjoy experiencing new things and traveling the world together, staying fit and active, and spending time with friends, family, and pets.

My wedding dress search started with buying subscriptions to wedding magazines. At this time, I was living in Boston completing my masters in physician assistant studies. During study breaks, I would meticulously comb through the magazines with my highlighters and pens, circling and tagging my favorite designers. The first time I saw a Paloma Blanca dress, I knew that was the designer for me. I attended my first dress appointment alone and asked the representative to pick a few Paloma Blanca dresses and Mikaella by Paloma Blanca. The last dress I tried on that day was Style #2150. I fell in love!! When I arrived back at my apartment, I called my mom and told her all about my day and this amazing dress. That day, we booked a flight for her to come view the dress first hand. Later that week, I called the shop back to make another appointment with that dress and they told me that it was sold and they would not be ordering anymore in that style. I was deviated, but I did not give up. I called every bridal parlor in Boston until I found the dress. Chryssie’s only had one left and they were kind enough to hold it for me. The first time my mother saw me in the dress, it brought her to tears and I knew it was the one.

We wanted our wedding day experience to be summed up in one word: fun. We were lucky enough to have family and friends from all over the country join us on our destination wedding to Mexico. For many of our guests, it was their first time leaving the country, so we wanted to make it a memorable, intimate, and fun experience. My husband and I go to Mexico a lot, so we wanted to choose a place that meant something to us and share the wonderful memories that we have been making there with our friends and family. Villa la Joya has the perfect mixture of elegance and beauty. The beach is right in the venues back yard with stunning views of the ocean. We also chose a traditional Mayan ceremony, not only to honor the area that we have fallen in love with, but also because it is interactive, so all of our guests could participate in the ceremony with us. Our reception was lighthearted with lots of dancing, smiling, and tequila. You could really feel the love in the air that day. It is a day that I am so lucky to now hold in my heart and I am forever grateful that our friends and family traveled to help us make our wedding day truly special.

Thank you for listening to our wedding story and creating my perfect dress!!
