Vivian and Axel

Couple’s Wedding Story:

Axel & I grew up in homes five minutes away from each other but didn’t meet until high school and date until college. We became best friends first and then realized we were always meant to be more, even if that meant four years of long distance 944 miles apart. After we graduated, we moved in together in Indiana for his first job, where we spent lots of weekends in Chicago (where he ultimately proposed). We have since moved across the country again to Los Angeles, but six years after we started dating, we went back to Austin, Texas, where our story began, to tie the knot in front of our closest family & friends who came in from all over the world.

Our wedding weekend was a dream come true. From our Vietnamese tea ceremony at my childhood home to our Texas-centered rehearsal dinner cruise around Downtown Austin, our European-inspired garden party wedding ceremony at my cousin’s venue and our intimate candlelit reception, you could see every part of who we are shine through. One of our dearest friends said our love “filled up that whole room” and I’ll never forget it.

Axel said “when you know, you know” in his vows, so it was a full circle moment to dance to the song we had already picked out the summer we started dating and honeymoon in Greece, the spot we had picked out and the hope we clung onto back when long distance got hard.

Every decision in our wedding planning process was extremely intentional, and even my wedding dress was a product of that. We had decided we would pay for most of the wedding ourselves, so even though I fell in love with this Mikaella gown the second I put it on, I ultimately walked away to look for options that better fit my budget. I ended up not liking anything else nearly as much, but a few days later, I found this exact gown in my size from a former bride who lived in the city I was moving to. I knew in that moment this dress was meant for me, and I loved being able to be sustainable with this decision. Moments like these are what made our wedding so special.
