COUPLE’S WEDDING STORY:
We met in 2008 through a mutual friend at UC Davis, California, and began dating in 2013 when we both moved to the Bay Area after college.
On our fifth anniversary of dating, we went to look at engagement rings. Roy hid the ring for the next few weeks, and proposed on October 7th, 2018. After having brunch in Alameda, we decided to hike the Marin Headlands. The day was beautiful – warm weather, clear blue skies, the Golden Gate Bridge in front of us, and airplanes flying around due to Fleet Week. We found a bench on the least crowded side of the peninsula and as we sat looking out to the Pacific Ocean we reflected on life, our relationship, and the future. The moment felt meaningful and timeless, so Roy knew this was his opportunity to ask. Once all passerby’s were gone and the coast was clear, Roy grabbed the ring, got on one knee, and asked Monica to marry him. We popped open a bottle of the Domaine Carneros bubbly that Roy had hidden in his backpack and spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the views in front of us.
We got married on our sixth anniversary of dating in Oakland, CA, the city where we fell in love. It was an incredible day filled with delicious food, cocktails, music, and dancing with our closest friends and family.
