Jordan and I met during the 6th game of the world series in 2016. We ended up sitting next to each other at Merkle’s Bar and Grill on Clark Street cheering on the Chicago Cubs. One of the first questions he asked me was who I thought was going to be an important player for that game, I replied “Dexter Fowler, as he has had a tough few hitting games the last few games.” As Dexter Fowler comes up to bat inning one… he starts the game with a home run, and Jordan had the biggest smile on his face (because he met a girl that actually knew some baseball and paid attention to the game). Note, we did not exchange names until the 6th inning. At that time he told me his name was Jordan, which made me laugh because my maiden name is Jordan – I just could not think anything would come of this because it was seeming to be too perfect of an introduction.
Fast forward a year and three months later, he proposed to me in our favorite city… Chicago! He got down on one knee at Millennium Park in front of the Bean. He then took me to Cindy’s rooftop for a surprise cocktail, followed by a surprise dinner with our immediate family, which several family members flew in for from Tennessee and South Carolina. After the amazing dinner I told everyone that I wanted to take them to the bar that Jordan and I had met at, which worked perfect for him, because he had set up a surprise engagement party with all of our friends to end the night. It was an engagement for the books – he did a beyond amazing job and made it one of the most memorable moments of my life.
