Adam and Kayla met on the beautiful shores of Lake Maxinkuckee while both were working at a private boarding high school. After meeting Kayla for the first time through a mutual friend, Adam called his mother and told her he met the most amazing woman. Those who know him know that Adam had never done anything like that before. Unfortunately, Kayla was dating someone else at the time. So Adam patiently waited and got to know Kayla as a friend. 10 months later when the time came and Kayla was single again, Adam jumped at the opportunity to ask her out. One night out at the local bar, the pair was picking out songs on the jukebox when Adam got up the courage to finally ask her out. On a rainy night, they shared a fabulous meal and an amazing conversation. Sparks flew over dinner and the two became inseparable. Over six years have gone by since that night, three states, six jobs, eight apartments and a lot of sushi dates later and their love is stronger than ever.
Through countless late nights in a gym somewhere, Kayla has been a gracious and selfless supporter of Adam’s basketball coaching career. When Kayla made a career change of her own, Adam was there by her side each step of the way. But it was the COVID lockdown of 2020 that reaffirmed their love — the long walks together, competitive board games, TV show marathons and a desire to put each other ahead of their careers. Despite how clearly they’d fallen in love with each other all over again, Kayla was surprised when Adam proposed in September 2020, standing in front of Pinchot Lake on one of their long walks. Despite the ring in front of her (and a photographer not-so-subtly sitting ten feet away), Kayla’s only reaction was to exclaim, “wait… is this for real?”
The only step left to take for the two on their journey together was to officially tie the knot. A love story six years in the making, the couple made their vows on June 11, 2022, overlooking the water (a ‘must’ for Kayla) with a small, close-knit group of friends and family who have supported them every step of the way. From start to finish their wedding day was everything they could have imagined.
Kayla found the perfect dress after searching tirelessly for a timeless, romantic and jaw-dropping dress. She finally found it in Vienna, VA at Elegance by Roya – Tysons Corner. The staff in-store we’re so incredibly helpful. From the moment she put on the dress she knew it was the one. The dramatic low back and beautiful bow left her speechless and not wanting to ever take off the dress. Walking down the aisle on her wedding day Kayla felt radiant in the dress and could hear their friends and families’ reactions as soon as she passed and they saw the back of the dress. Everyone was awestruck and loved the dress. Everything about the dress, from the gorgeous Mikado fabric, to the dramatic low back, and the gorgeous bow, fit Kayla’s personality to a T.
