My husband and I met when we were 10 and 11 years old. What started as innocent crushes, transformed into what is now a 12.5-year relationship. From high school proms, to going away to college, graduate school, medical school, and now taking on a new city together, we’ve always been each other’s #1 cheerleader, and are best friends, as well as soulmates. He proposed after a decade in the magical city of Venice, Italy with an Italian band playing our song, “Wonderful Tonight”, in the beautiful San Marco Square.
Shortly after, my best friends, mom, and Madrina joined me in the Big Apple for our own “Say Yes to the Dress” adventure and I fell in love with the most beautiful Paloma Blanca dress I had ever laid eyes on. Often one to think it is “cheesy” to cry over a dress, the moment I looked in the mirror, there wasn’t a dry eye in the fitting room, especially not mine! As we planned our best day ever through the uncertainties of COVID-19, our relationship only became stronger, now withstanding a pandemic too! I remember the day everything shut down, Bridal Reflections in Massapequa called me to let me know my dress had arrived and would be stored for safe-keeping and I held on to that sign as a glimmer of hope in what would be a very trying series of months.
Thank God, we were able to celebrate as planned (with many precautions in place!), and our day was one for the books. From every small detail, to dancing the night away, not only did I get to marry my best friend, but I got to wear my gorgeous Paloma Blanca gown and I truly felt like a queen in it! Cheers to love that lasts infinity plus six!
