COUPLE’S WEDDING STORY:
Our #SpokenFor wedding…
My husband and I recently married in idyllic Monkton, Maryland at the exclusive new wedding venue called Foxfire Estate. Hosting a maximum of four weddings each year, the estate features rolling hills filled with horses and multiple residences where select guests can overnight.
We wanted out wedding to feel like a true family affair. With 100 guests it was intimate, especially given that we were able to have the wedding party enjoy the estate the whole weekend. No one had to leave, everything was on the property, and the event had an almost effortless feel to it.
In designing our day, I went for bold pops of color, bucking the typical colors of fall. Bright blues, poppy reds, and pale pinks were set against the white and black background of the estate’s “Big House,” where we were married on the front lawn underneath a trellis overlooking the property.
At night we transitioned through the house, where guests picked up custom wineglasses and the “Cocktail Owl” began. My husband had surprised me with Little Hoot, a real-life barn owl who reminded me of Pigwidgeon from Harry Potter – I’m a huge fan and love surprises. It was perfect.
After cocktail hour, guests dined and danced under the stars. As wine aficionados, we had open bottles of wine on each guests’ table, paired with dinner. The night ended with cake, pies, and a few ballroom numbers (my husband and I used to dance professionally). The day couldn’t have been better.
