Derek and I both grew up in Harrisonburg, VA and went to the same Elementary, Middle and High School together! Being that Harrisonburg is a small city, we knew each other existed but didn’t run in the same circles.
Fast forward to 2017, I had moved to Richmond and my sister invited me to go to a show at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville, VA and told me some people from our high school were going, including Derek. I was skeptical it was a set up but my sister denied! I remember talking to Derek the whole night about our similiar music taste and music festivals.
After that night, every weekend was spent in Harrisonburg or Richmond visiting each other for 3 years until Derek made the move to Richmond. The rest is history! ♡
We got engaged May 2024 on a vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!
The Outer Banks has always been a special place for us and our relationship. Derek and his family have been vacationing in OBX since he was a child and I have been tagging along with them for the last 7 (almost 8!) years of us dating. We explored the many different parts of OBX but realized how much we loved Hatteras Island for its tranquility compared to the busier northern parts of OBX. Derek took me to Café Pamlico in Buxton (the restaurant located at our wedding venue) on a date night several years ago. We instantly loved the friendly staff, amazing food, beautiful views of the sound, and the cozy charm. We knew that type of atmosphere was perfect for our special day.
Urban Set, the bridal shop where I purchased my Paloma Blanca dress, is the most hospitable place. The staff wants you to feel comfortable, supported and encouraged as you search for the perfect dress. When I put on Paloma Blanca 5064, I knew it was the perfect dress. The elegant and classic front and the hand painted design on the back was the perfect style for me.
