Ashley and Jonathan

November 25, 2017

Jonathan and I met in Kindergarten! We were 5 years old, respectively, when we were first introduced as little kids at our elementary school in Douglasville, GA. Jonathan and I used to play together as kids, and he wrote me a plethora of love letters as early as 4th grade. WHICH I STILL HAVE! Side note: my father would tell me I was not allowed to have a boyfriend until I was 30, so I actually hid all the love letters I got throughout school, including high school! Ha. Jonathan and I had different friends all throughout school, and never hung out. One evening after we both moved back from after college, he sent me a Facebook message just to say Hi and that he was in town and wanted to connect with people he knew who were also living in Douglasville now that he's back home. So, we met up at Starbucks for a coffee and we hung out laughing and catching up, talking about our lives, and our adventures until they closed! Then, we drove to Waffle House for some more coffee, and stayed until 3am talking in a corner booth. We hung out all the time! His mom was one of my high school teachers, so I'd go to his parents house and we'd all talk and reminisce. Then, we moved away again. He moved to California, and I moved to South Carolina for work. And then about a year later, we both moved back home again.

We dated for three years then, and then broke up! This story does have a happy ending! :) We were separated for two years, we dated other people, and then one night in June of 2016, he texted me and it all started again! We decided we would give us another shot! And, almost a year to the date, on June 16, 2017, Jonathan proposed in D.C. as we were walking along the Lincoln Memorial. I had NO idea! We talked about engagement and went and even picked out rings, but I had no idea it was happening that night! I was so excited to say “yes”! And, of course, people nearby watched and clapped! We even re-enacted it so we could get a few photos as memories! Ha!

About a month after our proposal, we jumped into wedding planning mode. We wanted something small and intimate. My father had been diagnosed with cancer four months prior to Jonathan's proposal, so we wanted to wed fast, but still have the wedding of our dreams! I found the perfect dress, Mikaella style #2105, online and it fit like a glove at the bridal shop! I wanted a wedding of sophistication and classiness, yet sexiness at the same time! The elegance of my Mikaella Bridal gown gave me all that, plus some! I planned my wedding around my gown! On November 25, 2017, I said "I do" to my best friend in the most gorgeous wedding dress! Thank you Mikaella Bridal for making our wedding a PERFECT FAIRYTALE!
