Our story is basically a romantic movie, and shows that when it's meant to be it truly is meant to be!
I took a year in between graduating high school and going to university, but my school friends and my husband (Jake) did. Jake (from a different high school) becomes friends with the people from my high school and began dating a girl I was acquaintance with, which - thanks to Facebook - is how I became aware of him initially and from the first photo I saw I thought "Oh... That guy is pretty cute". During my first semester Jake and I had our first - but very brief - encounter for a few hours between classes when I sat with Jake and friends I knew from school at their table in the student centre playing cards. It was in that moment I felt that spark and tried my hardest over the next 4 years to try and meet him again, but to no avail. That was the only time during our school careers we would meet.
Fast forward 4 years later to my final year of university, it's a February night and I'm leaving my dad's house with my youngest brother to go shopping. We get to a 4-way stop in the subdivision and at the house on the corner I see Jake getting into a vehicle and I am shocked! When we get back to the house I run to my sisters' room and tell her that I've just seen the man I've had a crush on for 4 years down the street! Her smile is huge and she giggles as she asks me his name. Jake is - in fact - the best friend of her new boyfriend (now her fiance) whom she was planning to introduce me to in a few weeks.
That year we became boyfriend and girlfriend on October 22nd, 2011. On December 17th, 2016 Jake asked me to marry him by building a sign in his backyard that said "Bianca, Marry Me" strung out in rope lights - he didn't have the chance to get down on one knee as I started crying immediately and was in shock. On October 28th, 2017 we tied the knot!
Sorry for the essay, but we have a crazy love story that is the thing romantic movies are made of.
When it came to my dress I only ended up at one boutique (It's Your Day Bridal) and it was the best experience I could have asked for. I brought my mom and my mother in law to my appointment and tried on their picks as well as my own, but nothing made me feel like a bride. #4614 was my second last dress - not sure if it was my consultant who picked the dress or not - but it was the first "Ah-ha" moment I had and I thought, "This could be my dress", but my consultant had an ace up her sleeve and went to the rack and grabbed #4714. From the moment I saw myself in the mirror, I knew it was the one (just like Jake!). Again, my consultant had another trick up her sleeve. She went to the back one more time and brought back a custom 3-tier veil with a satin trim that was made in Montreal, and the person who had ordered it didn't want. The satin on the veil matched my dress perfectly and with my store credit, I was able to get it for free!
