Christine and Brian

There are song lyrics by Tim McMorris that accurately describe our first encounter: “From the first time I saw you, I knew that you’d be mine.” Although it took a number of years for that to happen. The first time we saw one another was at a summer solstice party. By the end of the night, I got the courage to talk to Brian. The conversation fell flat. I didn’t forget about him though. Over the next two summers, our paths crossed at the same party. Again, the timing wasn’t right. Three years later, I missed the annual party; but a good friend of mine was there to tell Brian that she had a friend he ought to meet. He was reluctant to go on blind dates, but after I asked him out – we met and had our very last first date. Brian proposed in the exact spot where we first met at the summer solstice party.
