1 Corinthians 13:4-8: “Love is patient, love is kind…It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
It all started with one little text. A friendly ‘hello’ that started the journey of a lifetime. We met online a little over a year ago; a last ditch effort of giving love yet another chance. Kyle was looking for his princess; a woman he could call his best friend, and someday, his wife. And to put it plainly, Kimberly was looking for prince charming; a man who would sweep her off her feet and be the leading man of their very own love story. Before meeting in person, we talked for hours on the phone – Kyle teased Kim about her southern accent, and she teased him about the way he pronounces “margarita”. Effortlessly, we became friends.
Thanks to increasingly unreliable air travel schedules, Kimberly found herself stuck overnight in the airport on what was supposed to be our first date. To her complete disbelief, Kyle stayed up talking to her the whole night, so that she wouldn’t be “alone”. We were so nervous to finally meet in person – each to the other almost seeming too good to be true! But when it came time to meet the face behind the voice on the other end of the phone, sparks flew!
Not surprising to those who know us, our first date was on July 23, 2016 in Magic Kingdom at Disney World, where the night ended with a kiss under the magical canopy of the “wishes” fireworks show. And just like that, we were living our very own fairy tale. Fast forward one year to the day later on July 23, 2017, and again to Kimberly’s complete disbelief, Kyle pulled off the engagement surprise of a lifetime and asked her to be his wife and spend the rest of her life with him – in the exact same spot in front of Cinderella’s Castle where we shared our first kiss. Coincidentally, the new theme of that night’s fireworks show was “happily ever after”.
Our families always told us that ‘when you find the right person, you’ll know’. And we knew right away with each other that all of the waiting on a prince and princess was worth it! Our story really began before we ever met. God predestined us to be together, and while at one point we worked a mere 10 feet from each other at Disney not even knowing the other person existed, God in His divine grace literally moved time and space to put us together and now we are embarking on the next chapter of our very own love story!
