Kristin and Michael

September 16, 2017

HOW WE MET: Michael and I met in 2012 through a mutual friend over a love of music. One of his closest friends and my coworker had coordinated a hodgepodge of friends to go to a concert. It was there where we first felt a spark and ended up singing and dancing until 3 in the morning.

THE PROPOSAL: One warm afternoon in November we were standing on the edge of the dock at his family's shore house in St. Michaels, Maryland - our favorite place in the world and where we escape to every free weekend we get. Out of  nowhere, Michael suggested we look at rings when we get back to DC.  Excitedly, I turned around to see he was already down on one knee. I almost knocked the box out of his hand and into the water when I went to hug him!

THE WEDDING: We married in the same backyard where we got engaged, on a warm September afternoon with 120 of our closest friends and family members surrounding us. The weather prevailed and we had the most beautiful sunset as the backdrop for what can only be described as the best day of our lives. To this day our friends and family tell us that it was the best wedding they’d ever been to and that they’d never seen so much love.

If I could give one piece of advice to brides planning their wedding, it would be to cherish every second and don’t sweat the small things. The day goes by SO fast and when you’re actually in the thick of it, all the things you worried about going wrong or being an issue fall away and all you see is the love everywhere. Also, if you’re considering spending money on a videographer - DO IT. You’ll love looking back at not only you and your spouse but all your guests having fun and sharing in the memory of your wedding.

THE DRESS: I tried on maybe 15 dresses in total over a little over a months time and this was the very last one. The second I had it on and walked out of the dressing room I knew it was the one. It clung to me in all the right places and made me feel like a million bucks. I received SO many compliments on the dress and at times find myself wishing I could wear it out to another event!
