COUPLE’S WEDDING STORY:
We met back in 2008 when I was 16 and Mark was 18 and have been together ever since. As the years went on people started talking about engagement but I was busy with university and Mark who was working in France at the time had always said he wouldn’t do it until I was finished with my studies. Little did I think it would be so soon after university, less than a week after my postgraduate graduation he proposed whilst we were on a break away in County Mayo on August 31st, 2016. To say I was surprised is an understatement, my first words were no, no, no as I was completely overwhelmed with emotion and couldn’t believe that it was happening.

Fast forward exactly a year on from our engagement and after much searching in different parts of Ireland including Donegal, Armagh and Tyrone I found my dream dress in Verona Bridal, Magherafelt. I knew exactly what I wanted; something timeless and elegant but with a little bit of wow and for me my dress met all of that. My dress received many compliments and I felt so great wearing it.

It was a very wild Autumn day (we had everything from hail to sun) on October 26th 2018 that we began our married life. Our wedding Mass was in St. Mattew’s chapel, Drumsurn. Mark’s parents got married there and it is a lovely country chapel. Our wedding Mass was delivered beautifully by Father Seamus Kelly, we had prayers, blessings and music in both English and Irish as I am an Irish speaker myself. Shirley from Love Blooms, Killybegs decorated our chapel for us, our steps and aisle were decorated beautifully with candle light and rose petals. Shirley created the most stunning bouquet for me in a drop style the same as my mammy had on her wedding day.

After our Mass we headed off to the stunning Harvey’s Point, Donegal. The staff there are second to none and they really made sure we felt looked after and nothing was too much of a bother. They even made up a cocktail of the day in Mark’s home gaelic club’s colours and named it the Drumsurntini. After having our photos taken around the lake we arrived into our lakeside ballroom suite to the sound of the Hills of Donegal; our guests were all on their feet singing along, we knew then we were in for an amazing evening. We danced the night away to the sound of The Muddlers Club and DJ Wes both of whom our guests loved. We had the most amazing day.
