Joe and I met in the middle of the ocean. I was a performer for Disney Cruise Lines in 2014, and towards the end of my contract, Joe, a musician from Ireland, came on board to work. Through a coworker, we met, and instantly became inseparable. Whenever we could make time for each other, we would. Everyday we would walk around the decks, cups of tea in hand. He would make me laugh so hard, and naturally, that Irish accent of his made me swoon. I would sing with him the in pub on board during my free time because he said he loved my voice. We really fell for each other very fast and very hard. Before our contract was over, Joe asked me if I would like to come to Ireland and work with him. I was crazy enough in love to say yes, and so we became an acoustic duo. Since then, we’ve performed together in over 20 countries, playing our music to thousands of people.

A year and a half after meeting, Joe and I had a contract that would bring us back to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where we had one of our first dates. We retraced our steps throughout the town, and once we got to the old, historic fort, he very unexpectedly got down on one knee. I think we both always knew that we were meant for each other; I cried happy tears the whole day.

It was a hard decision, choosing whether to get married in New York (where I’m from) or Ireland, but ultimately, Joe and I fell in love with Bellingham Castle in Ireland. We figured if we were only getting married once, we may as well do it right. Finding my dream dress was probably the easiest part of the wedding planning. I always wanted a mermaid dress with lace, and with the help of Pinterest, I saw the perfect one: Paloma Blanca 4550. I saw that Virginia’s Bridal in White Plains, New York was carrying the dress, and I booked an appointment straightaway. It was the first dress I tried on, and I knew at once it was my dress.

I felt so beautiful the day of my wedding, like a real princess in a castle. All of our family and friends had such a good time. We ate delicious food, were waited on hand and foot, and danced the night away. My American family had the trip of a lifetime, sleeping in a 19-bedroom historic castle and exploring how beautiful Ireland truly is. One of the most special parts of the wedding was having my 80-year-old Grandma fly out to be with us. She never flew overseas before this wedding, so it was a very big moment not only for us but her as well. Seeing her happy in Ireland was magical and inspiring. It was truly the best day of our lives, and we will always treasure just how perfectly everything came together.
