When and how did you meet?
Tristan and I met in the summer of 2016, at the lunch room in Calgary at the Pepsi office. I introduced myself to him in the lunchroom, I was the HR intern at PepsiCo Foods and he was a Sales Rep at Pepsi Beverages. We saw each other again at the printer/photocopy machine and exchanged some jokes. A few weeks had passed and we exchanged emails.
How did you begin to date? First date?
After messaging each other for a few weeks we finally went on a date at Una Pizza on 17th Ave. The date went well, we really jived on a lot of important topics like how family is so important to us, our beliefs and values. We also had similar interests in music and basketball.
How did your relationship evolve?
We continued to stay connected and went on a couple more dates like at Village Ice Cream on 10th Ave. Once we were able to meet each other's friends, it really clicked for me that he was a good person and someone I can trust and move forward with seriously. My favourite memory was when my cousins came to Calgary to visit me from Edmonton and Tristan got along with them all so well. As we approached the end of my internship in December 2016, he came to Edmonton with me to meet my parents and family. He was grilled with questions but he survived and it went really well. He fit into the family dynamics really well, meeting all 40+ family members in my extended family during the holidays. It was official on December 13, 2016 when he slipped the words "love you". That has been our dating anniversary since.
How did you get to be engaged?
We had been together for about 5 years, in the summer of 2021 we went to look at rings together. We went to a jeweler in Toronto and picked out the radiant diamond and looked at the design together. The week leading to my birthday we have dinners planned throughout the week. On Sunday November 14, 2021, I wanted to cancel it because of all the other events we had planned that week but Tristan told me his mom was paying for our dinner so we had to go! Then, that Sunday I woke up from my nap and noticed he was up early and getting ready much earlier than he normally would. We were on the way to dinner and he stopped at a little part in the Port Credit area, he said that his boss told him about this lookout point with a nice view. However, it was raining and foggy that day. We walked along the path and he pointed to the "view" and he said "how's the view?", i said, "it's alright haha", Tristan says "well I think it's perfect... (goes down on one knee)... we've been together for 5 years, and there's no one else I'd want to spend the rest of my life with". His friend was in the bushes hiding and taking a video of all of this unfold! I said yes, then we ended the evening at Michael's Back Door Restaurant in Port Credit.
Finding the wedding dress: I meant to shop around in Calgary because that's where we planned on living, but when I visited family in Edmonton my girlfriend went to Novelle and told me about her experience. Then I booked a last minute appointment at Novelle on the Saturday. Emily was such a great consultant and gave me a dress I was not initially looking for - simple and elegant 4955. I thought I wanted lace and sparkle but this was the complete opposite! I'm still happy with my decision today!
