Tyler and Rhett

August 4, 2017

The Main Event :
Rhett, Tyler & Guinness (the dog not the beer) celebrated their wedding in Ashland, MA after 7 years together. Their wedding was inspired by their (and Guinness’) love for the woods, complete with natural flowers decor and a free running mutt. Their ceremony was preformed by their very best friend, who introduced them on day one.

The Dress:
After 5 different dress stores in the city of Boston, Tyler found her gown just a couple miles from the house she grew up in. She truly would not have pulled the trigger without the push of the store owner, Malinda. It came down to two dresses, and Malinda asked Tyler to close her eyes. She said “It’s the big day, you’re standing next to your father, and you’re about to turn the corner to walk down the aisle. The doors open and you see Rhett. Now open your eyes, is this the dress you’re wearing.” With tears in her eyes, she said yes to a beautiful Paloma which would go on to be talked about the entire night of the wedding.

The Story:
Setting the scene: September 2010, two weeks into their freshman year at Merrimack college.

Rhett was sitting in his room (most likely in some atrocious Hollister shirt) with Tyler’s then roommate and Peter Milinazzo (officiant). Rhett asked Tyler’s roommate who she was living with. After acknowledging the humor behind a girl named Tyler, Rhett decided to send a seemingly creepy Facebook friend request to her, at which point he said “Do you think Tyler will be my next girlfriend?” Little did he know she happened to be living just a staircase away and would be coming upstairs to find her roommate, moments after accepting the Facebook request.

And for those of you who know the story of this night in its entirety, consider yourself lucky because Tyler doesn’t. The rest is history.

2014: Rhett and Tyler adopt their half perfect half awesome Mississippi mutt, Guinness. Later that year they graduate college.

2014-2015: Rhett plays his first season as a professional hockey player and moved to Indiana. Tyler stays in Massachusetts with Guinness and makes trips out to Indy whenever she decides she wants to visit a fairly boring city that is in no way as cool as Boston.

2015: Rhett and Tyler say goodbye to long distance forever. They get their first apartment in the South End of Boston and later move out to Indy for Rhett’s second season with the Fuel.

May 2016: Two weeks after returning to MA From IN , Rhett and Tyler took Guinness to the state park they’ve been taking him to since he was a pup. This park is where Guinness learned to romp, play with dogs, swim and roll over to show his man parts every time he meets a new dog. It seems just like any other park trip until Rhett mentioned an extra tag on Guinness’ collar. Tyler went to look at and saw it was engraved with “Will you marry me?” She looked up to find Rhett on one knee. After his mom said yes, Guinness thought it was the perfect time to run into the woods and roll in something that is still unidentifiable.

Was Tyler surprised? Yes, because if she had known, she wouldn’t have been wearing a t-shirt and glasses (which fogged up as she was crying).

August 4, 2016: Exactly one year before the wedding, Rhett and Tyler, with Guinness in tow, moved to Grenoble, France. Rhett played hockey while Tyler and Guinness ate croissants , travelled around Europe and occasionally squeezed in a hockey game or two.

Eventually they moved back, and spent the final months making WAY too many things, but ended up throwing one grand party they’d never forget.
