Makenna and Hunter

October 28, 2017

How did you two meet?

Hunter and I met in college and we were set up by mutual friends. We were friends for about a year before we officially started dating. Our first real date, he was so shy I did not think he was interested in me! When he asked me to be his girlfriend, I was so relieved to know he felt the same way as I did. What has been great about our relationship was that it started slow and as a friendship and turned into being best friends and now husband/wife!

What is your special engagement story?

Hunter planned a quick get away trip to Colorado. We went in late April and to our surprise, there was a big snow storm that had come through that was allowing us to ski that weekend. There were only a few lifts available so we made our best judgement and went for it. To say we are awful skiers is an understatement. Our first run down, Hunter had a major wipe out and as I followed him down (filming, of course), I was dying laughing but now looking back, I feel bad for laughing because he must have been so worried about falling and having the ring in his jacket pocket! We skied the majority of the day, stopping up top for a nice lunch and enjoying the view. Towards the end of our day, we stopped down the mountain to set up a camera to take our picture, and by the time he had set it up and I had gotten situated, he was down on one knee! I was so shocked and said YES! We skied down the mountain, and enjoyed the night with some Italian food and wine! To my surprise, he had only asked my dad for my hand in marriage, and he did not tell anyone else! So sneaky.

What made your wedding day unique?

I think what made our day so special was obviously having our entire family and loved ones there, but that we really wanted everyone to feel welcome, loved and like they were part of a true celebration! Our venue was also so special to us. It had the perfect amount of rustic charm and industrial modern touches that was so fitting for both Hunter and I’s taste. It provided indoor and outdoor space so that the amazing weather and fun could be felt from any part of the room. We also did a home style dinner so that you passed plates to one another, which made it feel very intimate. We just wanted everyone to have fun, and enjoy the night as much as we did. We had the best time and are so thankful to our loved ones!
