PJ and I met close to ten years ago (!) working together in a local restaurant. He was a line cook and I was a waitress. As we grew to know each other, we developed crushes and finally went out for a (successful) first date. PJ and I have enjoyed most of our adult lives together – we moved in to our first home five years ago and have two adorable dogs, Tom Collins and Bam Bam, who played vital roles in our private at-home proposal in March 2021.
Neither of us being particularly big lovers of weddings, we originally were steadfast on having a “Justice of the Peace-type wedding” with a small dinner afterwards.
Just as luck would have it the local bridal shop, Bliss Bridal, was having a sample sale shortly after our engagement. I thought I would go try on some sample sale dresses “just for fun” since I had no intentions of needing one… until I tried on the Paloma Blanca #4857. I immediately fell in love with the dress and left with the sample sale size that very day. I needed a few alterations – mainly to give my hips a little breathing room. Fast forward to June 2022, I get to my first fitting and realize we can’t make the alterations we originally thought. We had to rush order a brand new dress and size, and I received my dress about two weeks before my wedding. This dress was absolutely worth the wait! The new dress fit almost perfectly with only a few alterations to take in the waist and hem.
We did end up having a slightly larger wedding than originally planned – 60 guests of our closest friends and family at one of our favorite restaurants – but we wouldn’t change a thing! We had a beautiful ceremony at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, and a dinner reception at the Grange Community Kitchen. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect day.
